As a Product Management Summer Intern at CommBank, you’ll connect customer need with execution and end-to-end customer experience, shaping products from idea through to delivery and continuous improvement.

Across your program, you’ll be supported to grow both deep product management capability and strong commercial acumen. You’ll learn how to think strategically, influence stakeholders, and make customer-centred decisions in a complex environment.

Product Managers are responsible for delivering exceptional experiences and value for our customers. It sits at the intersection of customer need, regulatory obligation, and shareholder viability.

As a CommBank Product Management Summer Intern, you will learn and grow across five core capability areas:

  • Customer – A deep customer obsession, grounded in understanding user needs and designing intuitive, seamless product experiences.
  • Data – The ability to identify critical data points and translate them into insights that guide product decisions and measure impact.
  • Industry – Subject matter knowledge of the broader market landscape, including competitors, trends, and emerging technologies relevant to the domain.
  • Business – Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the legal, regulatory, risk, governance, and compliance frameworks that shape product strategy.
  • Product – Expertise in the product itself - its value proposition, functionality, and opportunities for innovation - ensuring it remains competitive, compliant, and aligned to customer and business needs.

Our Product Management Summer Intern Programs operate within two dynamic business units: Retail Banking Services and Business Banking.

  • Retail Banking Services (Sydney) – Play a crucial role in implementing valuable changes that directly impact our retail customers and the products they use daily. This includes their savings accounts, home loans, personal loans, credit cards and investment products.
  • Business Banking (Sydney) – Gain direct exposure to the development of new propositions, product lifecycle management and uplifting our customer experiences across areas such as Digital, Payments, Everyday Business Banking, Business Lending or Customer Channels and Data.

As a Product Management Summer Intern, you’ll gain insight into how products are shaped from idea through to delivery, including how customer needs, data and design thinking inform product decisions and experiences. The program offers a unique view into how strategic decisions are made and how products evolve to enhance customer experience and financial wellbeing.

Throughout the program, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our customers, contributing to their financial wellbeing while building valuable product management skills in a real-world environment.

At the end of your Summer Internship, you may receive a fast-tracked offer into our 2028 Graduate Program, where you can continue to grow your career across a range of product management teams and disciplines.

  • Are strategic thinkers who enjoys using data and customer insights to shape recommendations
  • Are curious, customer-obsessed and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Are strong problem solvers with a solutions mindset
  • Are adaptable, agile, and willing to think outside the box

If this sounds like you, and you are:

  • A Permanent Resident of Australia (please note, this does not include bridging visas while awaiting permanent residency or 820 visa holders), or Citizen of Australia or New Zealand at the time of your application
  • In your penultimate year of your overall university degree
  • Achieving a minimum credit average across your degree
  • Sydney based, or willing to relocate to Sydney for the program at your own expense
