Graduate Teacher Program - Generalist Primary - Lal Lal Primary School

Location Profile  

Lal Lal Primary school is located just 15 minutes outside of Ballarat. The school is an integral part of the local community. There is only the local mechanic, pub and school in Lal Lal. Buninyong is the closest town just 10 minutes down the road. The original school was established in 1866. The school boasts committed, experienced teachers, friendly hardworking students, and a very supportive and active school community.

The school is very fortunate to have excellent facilities. There are dedicated teaching spaces for specialist subjects such as music and art and three other refurbished classrooms for learning with smaller quieter spaces for flexible learning. 

There has been steady growth in student numbers over the past few years to our current healthy level of 42 students with two Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) student, 2 Koorie students and no students with English as an Additional Language. (EAL. They are supported by 3.4 teachers full time staff, one working principal class and 0.6 support staff who worked across administration and student support. The school is grouped into three small multi age classes during the core areas of Literacy and Numeracy and then two classes in the afternoon for Specialist areas. The school is focusing on evidence-based teaching approaches.

Program Benefits 

This position may attract an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria set out under conditions of employment.

Conditions of Employment 

All staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. 

The appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. 

A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided. 

Eligibility for incentive payments: 

  • The successful candidate is committing to a minimum of 1 year employment at this school. 
  • The successful candidate will not be a Graduate Teacher Incentive recipient from a previous vacancy. 
  • The successful candidate must not be employed as a teacher by the Department at the time the advertised position is to commence.
