Pyramid Hill College is situated in the Shire of Loddon, 100 kilometres north of Bendigo and approximately 240 kilometres north of Melbourne. The school was founded in 1876 and services the rural town of Pyramid Hill and adjacent communities. 

The school currently has an enrolment of 100 and 20% of the student population are from non-English speaking backgrounds. The SFOE index was 0.41 in 2023. The staffing profile of Pyramid Hill College includes a principal and assistant principal, 12.36 full time teaching staff and 5.52 full-time equivalent Education Support (ES) staff.

The School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) and the Resilience Project strongly underpin the wellbeing program.

The school grounds include a BER which provides a library, open-plan classrooms and several flexible learning spaces for students. In addition to a gymnasium the grounds include courts, oval, shaded play areas, outdoor learning spaces and an extensive farm area incorporating a vineyard, orchard, vegetable gardens and chicken pens. The school delivers an approved curriculum framework based on the Victorian Curriculum which is highly differentiated to meet the personal learning needs of individual students.

All teaching staff members are  part of the Victorian Professional Learning Communities (PLC) initiative and a School Improvement Team (SIT) in Literacy, Numeracy or Wellbeing. The College conducts a Hands-on learning program for students in Years 5-8. Students in Years 9-10 have the opportunity to undertake Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Units 1 and 2, Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and School Based Apprenticeships. Students in Year 9 attend the North Central Trade Training  (NCCTC) in Charlton to participate in various technical subjects. Students in Year 10 also undertake a range of VET subjects at the NCTTC one day a week.

 
Program Benefits 

This position may attract an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria set out under conditions of employment.

Conditions of Employment 

All staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. 

The appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. 

A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided. 

Eligibility for incentive payments: 

  • The successful candidate is committing to a minimum of 1 year employment at this school. 
  • The successful candidate will not be a Graduate Teacher Incentive recipient from a previous vacancy. 
  • The successful candidate must not be employed as a teacher by the Department at the time the advertised position is to commence.
