Graduate Teacher Program - Upwey High School - Maths / Science

Location Profile  

Thank you for your interest in this teaching position at Upwey High School.  We are a school of just under 800 students, situated in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges.  Our vision is to develop students who will be resilient and responsible, who are highly motivated and who become lifelong learners.  Through the establishment of positive relationships and high expectations, students are encouraged to reach their full potential.  We strongly affirm our school values of `Aspiration, Respect & Kindness¿ and our school structures support this approach.  At each year level we have a `Learning Common¿ providing multiple layers of support for both the academic and wellbeing support of all students who attend our school.  Our Restorative Practice approach underpins the ways in which we closely work with our students to develop effective learning environments and productive working relationships between staff and students.  Recent significant building programs have seen the development of our state-of-the-art four court multi-purpose stadium as well as our outstanding Art, Science & Technology wing which is designed to provide a breadth of opportunity to our students.  Our core focus areas include developing a Positive Learning Culture, improving opportunities for Student Voice and Agency and ensuring all students have access to our guaranteed, viable and consistent curriculum that enables them to thrive as citizens in both their local and global communities.

 

Selection Criteria - Graduates

SC1    Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs.

SC2    Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth. 

SC3    Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning. Demonstrated capacity to use data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4    Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.    

SC5    Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
