Project Grace: Data Engineering Graduate Program

Build the systems behind smarter decisions

Data engineering is where information becomes useful. It is technical, practical, and central to how modern businesses use AI, reporting, automation, and analytics.

As an FDM Consultant, you could help build data pipelines, connect systems, improve data quality, support cloud platforms, or make information easier for teams to access and trust.

Training starts in FDM’s Skills Lab, followed by assignments with leading Australian and global organisations, including Australia’s Big Four banks, insurers, energy companies, health organisations, and more.

Start dates: rolling intake. Apply now.

Your first 12 weeks

You’ll train in FDM’s Skills Lab and build practical skills in: SQL, Python, Excel, Bi tools, Agile delivery, Data integration, and more.

You’ll learn how data moves through an organisation, how teams clean and structure it, and how reliable data supports better decisions.

Strong technical foundations matter, but prior data engineering experience is not expected. Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to keep learning will take you far.

After training

We match you to an assignment based on your strengths, interests, and career goals.

Project work could include helping a bank improve reporting accuracy, supporting a cloud data migration, building pipelines for business dashboards, or helping teams prepare data for AI and analytics.

Roles you could move into include:

  • Data Engineer. Build and maintain data pipelines that help teams access clean, reliable information.
  • Technical Analyst. Work between technical and business teams to investigate issues, document requirements, and support delivery.
  • RRC Analyst. Help teams manage risk, regulation, and compliance requirements through clear analysis, reporting, and controls.
  • Release Coach. Support teams as they plan, coordinate, and release technology changes safely and smoothly.

"As a Data Engineer, I help develop and improve critical data warehouse solutions that support the business. FDM's training provided a strong technical foundation, enabling me to contribute to high-priority projects, improve processes, and grow my skills across multiple areas of the data platform. " - Isobel Murray, Data Engineer at a large bank
