Legal Development Program

The Legal Development Program (LDP) is a 12-month program for recent law graduates to gain experience working within different jurisdictions of NSW. You will work across stages of the prosecution process and work closely with Crown Prosecutors and Solicitors.  

You will have the opportunity to work for 12 months at one of the 10 ODPP offices around New South Wales and learn about criminal prosecution. You’ll experience things like litigation and developing policy, and enhance your skills and knowledge of criminal law, practice and procedure and legal research. As part of the program, you will study for a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice so you can be admitted as a solicitor in NSW.

Eligibility 

• you must have completed coursework for the College of Law’s Practical Legal Training Program (or equivalent) or will have completed it prior to commencement of the program 
• you can have completed, be currently undertaking or have not started the work experience component of the College of Law’s Practical Legal Training Program (or equivalent) 
• For those who have completed work experience must have done so within the timeframe stated in the recruitment advertisement (this can vary so please check details) 
• You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or hold full-time working rights in Australia until at least 31 August 2023
